Thank you Tucson Festival of Books for supporting literacy efforts in our community!! In addition to providing two unforgettable days each year where words and imagination truly come to life, the Festival also helps ensure vital literacy programs are available in Tucson and Southern Arizona.

On Thursday, November 8, the Tucson Festival of Books presented a check for $200,000 to Literacy Connects, Reading Seed Children’s Literacy Program, and the University of Arizona to support literacy services throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona. The check presentation was part of an international celebration of literacy that took place at Worlds of Words, a collection of international children’s and adolescent literature located in the College of Education at the University of Arizona. 

Since its launch in 2009, the Festival has contributed $700,000 to local literacy efforts!!

“Giving back to promote literacy is the real success of the Festival,” according to Bill Viner, CEO of Pepper Viner Homes and one of the festival’s founders. “Literacy is the foundation of building a strong, vibrant community, and the Tucson Festival of Books is proud to play a role in ensuring vital literacy programs are available in Tucson and Southern Arizona.”

The fifth annual Tucson Festival of Books takes place March 9-10, 2013 on the University of Arizona campus. In just four years, the Festival of Books has grown to become the 4th largest event of its kind in the United States. The 2012 festival drew 120,000 attendees and featured more than 450 authors, illustrators, agents and other presenters. The Tucson Festival of Books is sponsored by the Arizona Daily Star with the University of Arizona, and presented by University of Arizona Medical Center.
