The competition is open to writers in pre-school through high school, so please help spread the word!! Deadline for entries is December 1st. The Young Author’s Competition is a key segment of the youth activities at the Tucson Festival of Books.

The Festival of Books is looking for stories with compelling characters, satisfying development, vivid use of language and distinctive style.

These should be original student-initiated work, not retellings of movies, TV shows, books or other media.

Maximum length is 1,000 words. Entries must be accompanied by a filled-out cover sheet (download or print out the PDF here).

Entries must be postmarked or e-mailed by midnight Dec. 1, 2011.
