What is Best of Stories that Soar?
Best of Stories that Soar! is a fun-filled, family-friendly event celebrating the amazing powers of children’s imaginations, literacy and the performing arts.
This year’s Best of Stories that Soar! celebration includes two completely different shows as well as a mid-show Red Carpet Reception to celebrate our authors.
This year, children at Tucson elementary schools fed the hungry, story-eating Magic Box thousands of stories. Stories that Soar! returned some of those stories in a magical way–a live theatre performance by the STS! professional acting troupe. Utilizing comedy, drama, acrobatics, dance, music and more, every show features storytelling styles as varied as the children’s stories themselves.
Showcasing audience favorites from every school STS! visited this year, both Best of STS! shows are guaranteed to be an out of this world adventure! You’ll find zany characters as well as touching life stories; from silly to scary, sweet to serious, there is something for everyone! Join us, and watch the magic unfold!
Two Completely Different Shows?
Yes! The Magic Box visited 14 different schools this year and brought over 350 children’s original stories to life! With so many wonderful stories to choose from, trying to squeeze everything into one show just wouldn’t do!
In order to let each school shine, each Best of STS! show will feature seven schools. Having two shows enables us to perform multiple pieces from every school!
The Magic Box loves all children’s stories, so picking even a few from each school is no easy task! How do we do it? We ask the children! All pieces in the Best of STS! shows are selected based upon children’s feedback from each show. The children have spoken. Join us as we bring you the best!
ASL Interpreters will be provided at both shows by Pima Community College Interpreter Training Program.
