Upcoming program dates:

September 8 – October 26

Check back soon to sign up for our fall session!

The Youth Center at Literacy Connects is a space, whether it be in-person or virtual, where middle school students can creatively express themselves.

Over the course of one session, students will:

  • Write their own stories and turn them into a series of films.
  • Discover the strengths and assets they bring to their communities.
  • Learn how to work towards a common goal by clarifying roles, rotating leadership, and giving and receiving feedback.
  • Build lasting relationships

Youth Center 2020-2021 Virtual Programming

In light of our current reality, we have made the decision to bring our Youth Center programming on-line for the 2020-2021 school year. We have developed innovative modifications to our program to address our new virtual format. To fit more flexibly into students’ schedules and reduce screen time, students will sign up for weekly workshops of their choice, rather than logging on daily. Through these separate workshops, students will still create a collaborative production over the course of the eight-week session.

In addition to our team of teaching artists, we have high school interns from Amphi High School and are partnering with the UA Poetry Center for our writing workshop.

Mom’s Magic, by Hanna

Sam the Superhero, by Michael

Story of Talent, by Kassie
