Reading Seed Schools
2015-2016 Reading Seed Schools will receive:
- Dedicated community volunteers (Reading Seed Coaches) who have been trained to work with struggling readers in the areas of: motivation, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and the Language Experience Approach to writing/reading. The number of coaches is not limited, but is determined by student need and volunteer availability.
- Annual donation of gently used books for every student at the school.
- Assigned Reading Seed students also receive a Language Experience journal, a motivational Reading Seed Board Game with prizes, and one free book per coaching session to build a home library.
- Two hour professional development session at the school (for parents) on a reading topic of your choice.
