Literacy Resources Hub

This web site is the first searchable database of literacy providers, programs, and events in our community. Click here to search these resources and look for this button throughout our website.

Our aim is to quickly connect people with the opportunities they want to improve their literacy skills, job prospects, and quality of life.

Literacy Zone Neighborhoods

Literacy Zones are neighborhoods in which we focus our efforts to help build a culture of literacy in that neighborhood. Literacy Zones are grassroots-driven, headed by a Literacy Council of neighborhood leaders, community stakeholders, and literacy providers. Together we work to build on the assets of the community and overcome barriers. To ensure results, we measure outcomes, such as high school dropout rates, 4th grade reading scores, and the percentage of five year olds assessed as kindergarten ready. Click here for more information on Literacy Zone Projects.

Women’s Literacy Network

The Women’s Literacy Network is a network of women tutors and tutees. Neighborhood women are recruited and trained in teaching both literacy and leadership skills. Both the tutors and the tutees are then provided with opportunities to complete their GEDs and given scholarships to enter Pima Community College. (Literacy Volunteers of Tucson, University of Arizona – Department of Language Reading and Culture, Pima Community College Adult Education and Pima County Public Library).

Teach The Parent, Reach The Child

We coach parents to better support their young children’s reading development, as well as teach parents to become trainers for other parents.
