Please be a part of this wonderful event by volunteering a few hours of your time between March 2nd and March 11th. There are volunteer opportunities throughout the community before the Festival (including several northwest and east side locations), as well as many exciting options for volunteering during the Festival weekend.

Author Panel Discussion at 2011 Tucson Festival of Books with J.A. Jance, Diana Gabaldon and Jacqueline Winspear

To sign-up as a volunteer, please go to www.TucsonFestivalofBooks.org and click on the word “Volunteers.” You will be able to select from numerous activities and shifts and then will be asked to complete a short application. On the application, please be absolutely certain to select Literacy Connects from the pull down menu under the question “Are you part of Literacy Connects?” so that we are credited for your time. We need to recruit 150 Festival volunteers this year!!

Areas that still need volunteers include:

*Venues (Main Mall) – This is a great job because you get to take in an author presentation while volunteering!!
*Set-Up/Clean-up (Main Mall) – Lots of fun and camaraderie!
– Thursday & Friday afternoons
– Saturday Morning – Help exhibitors get settled in quickly!
– Sunday afternoon – Still need 26 for CLEANUP!!!
*Information Roamers (Main Mall) – Primarily Sunday afternoon (after 12:30)
*Food Court (Main Mall) – Sunday 3-6pm
*Entertainment (Main Mall) – Sunday 12:30-5pm
*Venue Monitors (Children’s Area) – Sunday 12:30-5:00pm

After you sign up, you will be contacted by the Festival of Books organizers with further information and you will receive a free t-shirt. Thank you in advance for participating in this amazing Festival which supports the programs of Literacy Connects and other wonderful literacy organizations in our community!
